Nashik, a city in Maharashtra, India, is gearing up for the grape crushing season with a two-day grape harvest festival organized by the state tourism department. The festival, which started on Saturday, features over 50 stalls showcasing wineries, grapes, and food. Nashik wineries are expected to begin grape crushing next week.
The grape harvest festival was inaugurated by Kailas Shirsat, an agriculture officer of Zilla Parishad Nashik, and Rajendra Nikam, the project director of the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) in Nashik. The event also includes the participation of over 40 farmers who are displaying various export-quality grape varieties, including table and wine grapes.
Among the table grape varieties on display are red selection, crimson, Sudhakar, Taas-A-Ganesh, Flame seedless, Red Globe, Arra, Nana Purple, Sharad seedless, and others. In addition to this, several wineries have set up stalls to showcase their grape wine brands. Visitors have the opportunity to taste and purchase wines at these stalls.
The grape harvest festival is expected to attract around 4,000 tourists over the two-day period. The festival serves as a platform for farmers to showcase their produce and for wineries to promote their brands. It also offers visitors a chance to witness the grape crushing process and gain insights into the wine-making industry.
