The ONGC-MRPL International Kite Festival-2024 is set to fill the skies above Tannirbavi Beach with excitement and fun. Organized by the Mangalore team, this two-day festival on February 10 and 11 promises to showcase a variety of kites and kite-flying techniques, including a special highlight of night flying.

With the participation of about 40 kite flyers, including 13 international flyers from eight different countries, this festival is a celebration of creativity and unity. Enthusiasts from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, and Kerala have already arrived to take part in the festivities.
Visitors can expect to see kites of various shapes, sizes, and colors, with special kites like Kathakali, Yaksha, Gajendra, Bhoota Kola, Garuda, Pushpaka Vimana, and Vibhishana flown by Team Mangalore. These artistic kites showcase the rich cultural traditions and creativity of the participants.
A Spectacle of Kites: International Flyers and Unique Designs

The ONGC-MRPL International Kite Festival-2024 is not just a local affair. It attracts international participants who bring their unique kites to the festival. For example, Malaysian policeman Fadzil Ali will showcase kites featuring the Incredible Hulk, Ukrainian flyer Alex will display a flat cat kite, and 74-year-old Abdul Rauf will present his butterfly and Batman train kites.

Team Mangalore, known for their passion for kite flying, will showcase their oldest and largest kite, the Kathakali kite, along with other artistic kites such as Yaksha, Gajendra, Bhoota Kola, Garuda, Pushpaka Vimana, and Vibhishana. Ukrainian and Thai participants will also display their inflatable kites featuring cats and other animals.
