Wausau Events, a nonprofit organization dedicated to organizing affordable events, expressed their sadness upon hearing the possibility of the festival not taking place in 2024. The partnership between Wausau Events and Steve Woller led to the creation of the Balloon & Rib Fest, which became a cherished annual event until the COVID-19 pandemic forced its cancellation in 2020.
Earlier this year, concerns arose about the festival's future when longtime organizers Steve and Nancy Woller announced their departure from the event's organization. The festival had lost the land it had previously used for the event, prompting the board to search for a new space. Steve Woller initiated the Wausau Balloon Rally in 2002, inspired by a balloon rally he attended in Arizona and recognizing the potential for hot air balloons as a form of advertising. Over the years, the rally grew in popularity, attracting an increasing number of balloons each year.
Due to ongoing COVID-19 mitigation efforts, the 2020 and 2021 events at the airport had to be canceled. As a result, the Taste N Glow festival was born in 2021 and has been held in Stettin ever since.
