The 3rd Annual Rutabaga Bowl took place in Crossfield on Saturday, attracting multiple contestants who aimed to knock down pins with rutabagas. Cheryl Shea, the Crossfield Farmers Market Manager, explained that the Rutabaga Bowl was a highlight of the Crossfield Food Fest.

The event kicked off with Mayor Kim Harris making the initial bowl, followed by 13 kids trying their hand at bowling. The adults then took their turn in the Rutabaga Bowl.

Kirk Tritscher from Airdrie took first place in the adult division, with David Lowther and Stephanie Hope, both from Crossfield, coming in second and third place respectively. Shea mentioned that hitting the pin was a pleasant surprise for most participants, as they didn't expect to succeed. She noted that it was generally the people who had low expectations that ended up hitting the pin.

Colin Slater Crowned the Worst Bowler for the Second Consecutive Year

Colin Slater from Crossfield was crowned the worst bowler for the second consecutive year. After the bowling competition concluded, approximately 50 pounds of rutabagas were donated to Whispering Wind Farms Kunekune pigs.

Strong Support for Local Businesses at the February Food Fest

The Rutabaga Bowl was part of the February Food Fest, which featured 90 food and beverage vendors. Despite concerns about the economy, the event saw strong support for local businesses, with many bags of food and drinks being purchased.
