Hot Luck Fest, one of Austin's prominent food festivals, is making a comeback this Memorial Day weekend with an exciting addition. Alongside its usual lineup of parties, concerts, and live-fire cooking events, Hot Luck Fest will feature a special pop-up with the renowned New Orleans restaurant, Turkey and the Wolf.

Founded in 2017 by Aaron Franklin, James Moody, and Mike Thelin, Hot Luck Fest has become a must-attend event for food enthusiasts in Austin and beyond. With their combined expertise in the culinary and entertainment industries, the festival promises a culinary adventure like no other.

An Exciting Lineup of Events

Hot Luck Fest kicks off on Thursday, May 23 with a welcome party exclusively for those with Whole Enchilada passes. This event will take place at the Mohawk and will showcase two Austin taco spots: Nixta Taqueria's Edgar Rico and Sara Mardanbigi, as well as Cuantos Tacos's Beto Robledo. Guests can also expect delectable treats from Texas-Asian bakery, OMG Squee's Sarah Lim.

The following day, on Friday, May 24, Hot Luck Fest will host its traditional sip-and-stroll event at the Fair Market. This year, participating chefs will present dishes inspired by supper club menus. Notable out-of-town participants include Amanda Shulman from Philadelphia's My Loup, Marc-Olivier Frappier from Montreal's Mon Lapin, Ed Szymanski and Patricia Howard from New York's Dame, and Misti Norris from Dallas's Petra and the Beast, among others.

On Saturday, May 25, festival-goers can enjoy the highly anticipated Turkey and the Wolf pop-up. Co-owner and chef Mason Hereford will serve up his famous sandwiches from Uptown Sports Club, starting at 11 a.m. This event is open to everyone, so be prepared for a potentially long line.

In the evening of Saturday, May 25, Hot Luck Fest will host its signature event, Al Fuego, at the Wild Onion Ranch in Manchaca, Texas. This is where the participating chefs will showcase their skills using fire and smoke. The lineup of non-Austin chefs is impressive, featuring Chuy Villarreal from Monterrey's Cara de Vaca, Chava Orozco from Mexico City's Mi Compa Chava, Doug Rankin from Los Angeles's Bar Chelou, Sophina Uong from New Orleans's Mister Mao, Valerie Chang from Miami's Maty's, David Murphy and Kayla Abe from San Francisco's Shuggie's, Rene Andrade from Phoenix's Bacanora, Serigne Mbaye from New Orleans's Dakar NOLA, Dana Cree from Chicago's Pretty Cool, and Diane Moua from Minneapolis's Diane's Place.

The final food event of Hot Luck Fest, called Camp Sunnyside, will take place on Sunday, May 26 at the Wild Onion Ranch. This brunch-themed event will feature dishes prepared by renowned chefs from outside of Austin, including Ashley Christensen from Raleigh's Poole's Diner, Jeremy Sewall from Boston's Row 34, and Paola Velez from Washington, D.C. and New York.

Whole Enchilada Passes and Charity Beneficiary

Hot Luck Fest has yet to announce its concert lineup. Whole Enchilada tickets, which grant access to all events, are priced at $595 for adults, $200 for individuals aged 13-20, and $100 for children under 12. There is also a family Whole Enchilada pass available for two adults and two children at $1,095. The festival's chosen charity beneficiary is the Southern Smoke Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting the restaurant industry.
