The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. has received recognition for its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts at the 2024 New York Festivals Korea-National Brand Awards. This marks the first time a Korean government agency has won in the ESG category.

The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp., also known as aT, is responsible for promoting the trade, export, and marketing of Korean foods and beverages globally. The agency's ESG management award was presented at the New York Festivals award ceremony held in New York City.

Low Carbon Diet Campaign

One of the notable ESG initiatives undertaken by aT is the "Low Carbon Diet Campaign," which was launched in 2021. This campaign aims to minimize greenhouse gas emissions throughout the food production, distribution, processing, and consumption processes. It encourages citizens and industries to adopt diets based on low-carbon, eco-friendly certified agricultural and livestock products. Additionally, the campaign promotes seafood with high carbon absorption rates, such as seaweed. Furthermore, aT advocates for reducing food waste during processing and consumption to achieve zero food waste.

Global Low Carbon Diet Vision Declaration Ceremony

Building on its ESG efforts, aT organized the Global Low Carbon Diet Vision Declaration Ceremony in 2022 to expand the campaign internationally. The agency's role in spearheading global low-carbon diet and net-zero initiatives earned it a plaque of appreciation from Washington in December.

Kim Chun-jin, CEO of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp., expressed his commitment to accelerating the globalization of low-carbon diets. He emphasized the integration of ESG values into the agency's unique business initiatives and its role in leading the culture of ESG management practices in the public sector.
