Organized by the city of Reading, Taco Fest aimed to become an annual tradition that would bring people together and celebrate the city's significant Latin presence. The event featured a wide range of activities suitable for all ages, including live music, face painting, ax throwing, and a free fun run called the Cinco de Mayo 5k, hosted by Nemesis Fitness of Reading.

Reading City Core Manager, Maritza Loaiza, expressed her excitement about the event, stating, "We wanted to do something different, and the entire event lines up with Cinco de Mayo. We wanted it to be fun and vibrant, and we wanted to bring as many people downtown as we could." The festival successfully achieved its goal by offering a diverse range of activities that highlighted Latino culture, including performances by local dance groups and live bands playing traditional music genres like mariachi and corrido.
A Festive Atmosphere Despite the Rain
Despite the initial drizzle, the streets remained busy throughout the day as people eagerly lined up at food trucks, eager to savor the flavors of authentic Mexican cuisine. Caroline Morse, a festival attendee of Mexican descent, praised the organizers for their efforts in bringing Taco Fest to fruition. "It's awesome that they're doing this, especially in Reading, since it has such a huge Latin presence," she said. Morse, accompanied by her dogs Loki and Tonks, dressed them up in colorful serapes and small sombreros, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event.
