The Bishop Auckland Food Festival is back in 2024 with an exciting lineup of events and activities for food enthusiasts of all ages. Organized by Durham County Council, this highly anticipated festival will showcase the best of local businesses and feature renowned celebrity chefs.

Scheduled to take place on April 20 and 21, the town of Bishop Auckland will be transformed into a food lover's paradise. Visitors can expect a wide range of tasty food options and engaging activities for the whole family to enjoy.

A Food Lover's Paradise

The festival will kick off on Saturday with performances by The Speakeasies, a talented group that includes Bishop Auckland-based vocalist Ruth Stapleton, professional street entertainer Richard Filby, and the foot-stomping carnival band Baque de Ogum. On Sunday, The Speakeasies will return, joined by the world's largest contemporary choir, Rock Choir, and the Mad Alice Theatre Company, who will be presenting their entertaining "Save my Sandwich" show.

Throughout both days of the festival, visitors can look forward to the popular North Tyneside Steel Band and Granny Turismo, as well as the stilt-walking duo Bell & Bullock. Comedy chefs Hugh Fearn and Lee Whittingstall will also be present with their Liver Cottage mobile kitchen garden, providing plenty of laughs and entertainment.

Fun for the Whole Family

For the younger attendees, there will be three puppet and shadow performances held daily at Pigeon and Pomegranate. Additionally, various workshops including crafting and painting will be available, as well as family food-themed arts and crafts activities.

Cllr Elizabeth Scott, Durham County Council's Cabinet member for economy and partnerships, expressed her excitement for the upcoming festival. She highlighted the diverse range of entertainment options available, from family photo opportunities to free events and activities in gazebos and the town hall theatre. The festival will also feature a quality live music lineup, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
