The festival is organized by Make it Mariko, a San Francisco-based events agency led by women of color. With their history of promoting diversity and supporting local creatives and entrepreneurs of color, the POC Food & Wine Festival is a continuation of their efforts to diversify the food and beverage industry.

Gina Mariko Rosales, the CEO and Executive Producer of the festival, believes that sharing the stories of people of color is crucial, especially in a time when diversity, equity, and inclusion are under attack. The festival aims to create a sense of joy, connectedness, and belonging for attendees, while inspiring new multicultural collaborations and normalizing the cultures of communities of color.

Experience the Culinary Delights of Renowned POC Chefs

One of the highlights of the POC Food & Wine Festival is the Main Dish event, taking place on Saturday, May 4th. This event will showcase the culinary skills of renowned POC chefs such as Chef Tu David Phu and Chef Reem Assil. Attendees will have the opportunity to savor the delectable creations of these talented chefs.

Chef Tu David Phu sees the festival as a significant milestone that goes beyond culinary celebration. He believes it provides a safe and inclusive space for people of color to celebrate their heritage, creativity, and contributions. Unlike other events where representation can feel superficial, the POC Food & Wine Festival is a genuine celebration of the culinary traditions of people of color.

Chef Reem Assil, another participating chef, will also host a special family meal highlighting Palestinian cuisine. She aims to share the richness and diversity of Palestinian food as a form of resistance against cultural erasure. These unique dining experiences allow attendees to immerse themselves in the vibrant flavors and stories behind each dish.

Indulge in Wines from POC-Owned Brands

At the POC Food & Wine Festival, attendees will have the opportunity to sample wines and beverages from POC-owned brands like Duncan Peak Vineyards, Indigene Wines, and Black Girl Magic Wines. These brands represent the talent and excellence of people of color in the wine industry.

By supporting POC-owned brands, festival-goers can contribute to a more inclusive and diverse wine industry. The festival aims to create a platform for these brands to shine and be celebrated for their unique contributions to the world of wine.

A Celebration of Diversity and Inclusion

The POC Food & Wine Festival is not just about food and wine; it's a celebration of diversity and inclusion. It aims to create a space where diverse communities can be seen and normalized, and where new cross-cultural collaborations can flourish.

Through sharing the stories and experiences of people of color, the festival seeks to promote empathy and unity in a divided world. It provides a platform for underrepresented voices to be heard and celebrated.
